Beginner Tabs

Sites that specialize in music for beginners.

• https://noobnotes.net/browse/browse-songs-in-c-major/ (Not all of these songs are playable on a standard kalimba, but most are. You may have to transpose the song to your tuning – most likely C Major, but it’s very simple.)
• https://www.harptabs.com/ (Created for the harmonica. Tip: search tabs > harp type diatonic > key: C)
• https://www.8notes.com/recorder/sheet_music/?difficulty=1 (This brings you to the search page for recorder music. You can also sort by difficulty.)

English Language

There are surprisingly few English resources. But we’re working on one! We’ll update you when it’s ready. 🙂

Kalimba Apps

There are a few that offer tabs.

• Kalimba Real (free version) / Kalimba Royal (ad-free for about $3) This is our favorite. download here for Apple and Android
• Kalimba Connect (tons of ads and few free songs last we used it, but it might have improved since then) developer’s Facebook page
• There are many more! Search for “kalimba” in the associated store.

YouTube

YouTube is rich with resources for kalimbas tabs. Some methods are more effective than others for certain people, so find what works best with you. One caveat: some kalimba tab channels are seemingly being created by people who don’t actually play the kalimba. In most instances, it’s not really an issue, but you may find some occasional chords that stresse not easily playable.

• April Yang (Arguably the most famous kalimba player in the world at the moment, she has several tab videos. Her covers are often very elegant.)

Search Options

Search terms and locations.

• Pinterest has a ton of tabs and sheet music pages.
• Instagram has an active kalimba community that shares many covers and sometimes tabs, especially using hashtags in various languages.
• Search for “kalimba” or “kalimba tabs” in multiple languages, especially if you are looking for a particular song.
